There are two CD-ROM, the first is on the master ide1 connector MATSHITADVD-ROM SR-8586 and the second is a SATA Samsung DVD-RW 1. 10u4 and all the snv_b77 boot ok and the installer works ok using first MATSHITADVD-ROM but snv_b81 fails too boot. Has any one tried when you burn a ISO (check sums check out) from a SATA DVD in this case a SAMSUNG DVD=RW DL. then the ISO fails too boot and skips the grub menu and goes on to the next bookable device. boot it boots OK on the grub menu and loads the kernel from the dvd. 2.The SATA IDE HD shows JBOD dvd-unit I know raid is not configured, so I assume Native mode you mentioned ( i.e. not in > ide emulation mode ) So this must be the case of DVD boots from grub for Solaris Extress or the dev edition with boot option soldevx=true, However the boot options soldevx=true is needed for the / to mount against the ramdisk:a, but in all cases the other partition for the software media does not mount when I do a df when the error is on snv_b81 when booting on SATA Samsung DVD-RW. when the soldevx=true is not set Reading ZFS config done. ERROR: Connot find install software exiting to shell when oldevx=true is set, gets a little farther / mounts as ramdisk:a with: Reading ZFS config done. Solaris Express Edition can only be installed from DVD Media or by Choosing to $ SOLARIS_EXTRESS option from grub menu ... The ttinstall or the GUI Solaris-install versions has a hard coded value that was overlooked and is not tied to the same C variable as what ran disk is loaded from the DVD and mounted using the variable pointer of the soldevx=true does not mount the install media based on the active boot deivce or the ttinstall assumes all system only have one DVD drive, ether way it's seems to be a hard coded in not being able to mount the install media. Can anyone else have two EDI DVD's that they can try to boot dvd to install from second DVD and not the first, and see if the install midia fails to mount and the installer exits to the shell?
