Hi,

I'll try to do this as simply as possible :-)

  1) Solaris 10 is the supportable version ( You get support if you
buy a support
contract ) this is the version of Solaris that you can get patches
 for and install
them. This is the version you get on a media kit when you buy a new
server.

      --------

The Other Solaris versions are not supportable and you cant get patches .
All you can do is upgrade to a later build level. Or fix the source code
and
     recompile it .

  2) Solaris eXpress Developer Edition .

SXDE is a quarterly snapshot of the OpenSolaris source code .
It is issued together with a lot of C, C++ , JAVA development
tools
to make it easy to start to use. SXDE is usually a well tested
snapshot.

   3) Solaris eXpress Community Edition.

SXCE is a biweekly snapshot of the opensolaris source code.
It is the same stuff as SXDE but not as well tested.
Use this to follow the development of new functionality ever other
week.

   4) Indiana

Indiana is the new attempt to rewamp Solaris into a Distro
With a new Package manager that can download major parts
of Solaris over the nework. and a snazzy new installer.
