I cant see the realtek in the scanpci listing you posted.
So something is not right.
Is this RGE device embedded on the motherboard ?
which motherboard is it ?
Once I had to put the Fully Qualified Domain Name in /etc/hostname.rge0
and also in /etc/hosts to make a Realtek device work .
If you have assigned an incorrect netmask , your broadcast address
will be wrong and ARP and RARP wont be able to resolve MAC and IP
addresses.
