It passes the OBP diagnostics and ran Solaris 9 without this hang ever occurring. It ran SUNvts for 100 minutes in stress=high mode with only one failure (1). The hang only seems to be a problem with Sol11 (I could never get Sol10 to run because of USB issues). Asking this question on OpenSolaris-help because it only seems to happen when running OpenSolaris >= nv45.
I suspect the problem has to do with the USB driver, which, albeit far better than any previous USB support, still doesn't handle a USB keyboard on this hardware (see Bug ID 6662703). I do have a second, identical, U80.that I bought for spares. I may try swapping the machines to see if the hang still occurs. My question was what to do if Stop-A doesn't work. Is there another way to force a crash dump or somehow get into the OBP? I imagine that it could be the OBP itself that has crashed, so how does one debug that? I admit that that wouldn't be an OpenSolaris question, but the osol developers must run into this, surely...
