The Version of Solaris that gives you the most flexibility/Choises
And the greatest demands on prior knowledge is the Solaris eXpress

Solaris 10 5/8 is the Supported Commercial version of Solaris.
It was first released in January 2005.
Its re-released with new functionality about twice a year.

Opensolaris is the new Distro version with all the new features
that still has not made it into Solaris 10 .

SXCE is OpenSolaris bundled with the bits of Solaris 10 that can not be
made in to OpenSource because of commercial deals SUN made with
other vendors . The functionality of SXCE is therefore greater than
OpenSolaris.
