Hi all,

I've been fighting with a network install/boot of my SunFire T1000 for a couple
days now, and need some help. I'm using OpenSolaris on x86 as my install server
and added a boot server on it, to no avail. The two systems are on the same
subnet, so I shouldn't need the boot server, but just in case...

I used ./setup_install_server /path sun4v

./add_install_client clientname sun4v

(according to docs, since the machines are on the same subnet, that should be
sufficient?)

I have nfs up, rarp works, the tftp command seems to work. The boot gets this
far:

Boot device: /[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED] File and
args: -s
100 Mbps full duplex Link up
Requesting Internet Address for 0:14:4f:6f:5c:f6
100 Mbps full duplex Link up
SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_127127-11 64-bit
Copyright 1983-2008 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved.
Use is subject to license terms.
os-io whoami: no domain name

And then it stops

I have a lot of recurring traffic according to snoop --

NFS C GETATTR3 FH=9A63
NFS R GETATTR3 OK
NFS C GETATTR3 FH=DA68
NFS R GETATTR3 OK
NFS C GETATTR3 FH=D168
NFS R GETATTR3 OK
NFS C GETATTR3 FH=A068
NFS R GETATTR3 OK
NFS C GETATTR3 FH=E961

over and over again

Then there is an incidental TCP D=2049 S= 1023 ACK=###### Seq=####### Len=0 Win
= 49640

So now what do I do? I assume I'm missing something in the config on my
openconfig server, but I'm not sure. Are there any special steps I need to take
that aren't in the regular Sun docs (they seem to be built for Solaris 10 on
x86 or Sparc, not sure if OpenSolaris will be exactly the same..?)

Thanks,
James

Some additional info - I'm not using sysidcfg -- I'm really just trying to set
up a manual installation, and I want to make sure I can set up RAID first, so
I'm using net boot -s and getting the problem above. I also don't have the
rules.ok file (i ran check and it failed, but since I want to do a manual
install I was hoping it didn't matter ... Isn't the rules stuff for automatic
jumpstarts, not for interactive installations?)
