hi

People keep telling me read the manual!!! read the manual!!!
i did that over and over again and still i get no results,
When Trying to assign my own ip address.
Its so Frustrating i am pulling my hair out,

First When i was first introduced to Solaris it did not like my card
so i bought one that was compatable for it
so that i can finally connect to the net which i can do but.

i notice if i have to resort to sys-unconfig to assign my own IP Address
Solaris does not detect my domain name?
why not?

i put in a valid doman valid name servers and still it says try another
it can not detect it.. whats wrong with the ones i put in
They work in BSD.

But in FreeBSD and OpenBSD it never failed to find it/

i also put in the correct interface address and still nothing works

i am forced to touch /etc/hostname.interface and /etc/dhcp.interface
then ifconfig interface ip address plumb

reboot - --

And im online

But can not do anything manually
When i edit the files (((Exactly as told))) i get all sorts of errors on boot
up.

No offence to Solaris
everythgin else about it is excellent
but if i enter the same information domain name ip address etc
why does it all work in BSD but not in Solaris.

it just fails to fine my doman ?
