I made some more testing on this matter and the results are a bit confusing (at least to me).
Instead of a OpenSolaris and a hub, I used Solaris 10 computer and a switch where I also connected a Windows machine, and everything works fine. I also connected the Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris via switch, and it also works. But when I connect the devices with a hub, nothing works. The LED on the hub doesn't even light up when the Solaris 10 machine connected. For OpenSolaris it lights up, but data is not passed through. What is up with (Open)Solaris and hub? Does the OS somehow detect that the connected device does not have any logic inside and for security reasons denies the access? Do I have to configure the interfaces somehow? Or is there a firewall activated that denies this kind of access? Thanks.
