Sorry for the vague Subject, but there are just so many variables involved.

Short version:
I took the working, bootable hard drive out of my laptop, put it into an
external USB disk enclosure, and tried to boot from it, but got an error.
(The reason for this is because I am planning on installing a new hard drive
soon)

Normally the computer resets too quickly to see the error, but booting with
-k lets me see the error, being:
spa_import_rootpool: Error 22
panic - cannot mount root path /[EMAIL PROTECTED],0/[EMAIL PROTECTED],2/[EMAIL
PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED],0.

NOTE: This is EXACTLY the same device as shown by format for the disk when
it installed internally in the laptop drive bay, which doesn't make sense as
the disk is connected a different controller and uses a different driver
path when connected via USB.

Why would Solaris look for the device in the old location? Is this
configured somewhere?

Details:
I have a Toshaba Tecra M5 laptop. This uses a S-ATA hard drive internally.
The drive is configured for multi-booting, and Solaris and Ubuntu Linux are
installed on it.
The External disk enclosure is a NexStar 3 (2.5") enclosure, connected via
the USB port (not eSATA - this is not available on the laptop)
I've changed the BIOS option to look for USB disks first, and on startup the
grub menu appears.
SNV was installed fresh for build 90, with ZFS root, and has been upgraded
repeatedly since, using Live Upgrade. The results has been the same with
all builds of Nevada give the same results.

Booting to Linux works fine, but the options for Solaris fails. Without
Kernel Debug mode, the system resets before it is possible to read any
messages.

I am expecting this to work because Linux loads fine, and when the disk is
inside the laptop, Solaris too works fine (The drive has been re-installed
internally now and is in fact what I am working from right now). I booted
with -v -k and have taken photos of the screen when it stops. The photo is
available here.

Is there something I can do to fix this?

If not, I can open a bug report.

Thank you
  _J
