Yep.
I have an 8GB USB flash memory stick with ZFS root / boot
(SXCE 91), bfu upgraded to snv_95. This USB flash memory
device is bootable on five different 32- and 64-bit amd64 and Intel
core2 boxes by now, on any USB root hub port ;-)
This started to work after the putback for:
6704717 ZFS mirrored root doesn't live up to expectations
6710937 Boot failed information should be more friendly
These added a new zfs boot feature, that allows the root
device to be opened by "devid", in addition to the attempt
to use a physical device path ...
Using the open by devid, the USB flash memory device can
be found whereever it is connected on the USB bus.

Ok, switching between SATA and USB still won't work,
because the SATA and USB disk device driver don't
generate compatible devids.

Hmm, I think what is missing is a feature to locate the
zpool's disks using the "guid" of the disks.
