I figured out how to boot the 32-bit kernel. No change.

Nope; on my opensolaris 2009.06 box there is
no /kernel/drv/cadp binary.
But SX:CE (b114) has the 32-bit cadp kernel module.
I'm not sure, maybe the cadp driver is included in the
opensolaris "extra" repository ?

I installed the extras repository, but there is no cadp driver.
There is an adpu320 driver.

No idea why cadp isn't available in the extra
repository. Maybe a problem because this driver

I've CC:ed the indiana-discuss list; maybe we
can get an explanation why cadp is missing in
OpenSolaris...
And I suggest that you file a bug at
http://defect.opensolaris.org for the
missing cadp driver.
I notified the HCL manager -- he'll update the list to remove
the indication that Adaptec 2940 is supported by OpenSolaris.
I think that the license issue is the sticking point, but
not having a 64-bit driver is perhaps also an issue.
I downloaded the cadp driver from Solaris 10 and installed
it. I managed (after several tries) to boot in 32-bit mode.
No joy -- the Adaptec 2940 is not recognized. Running
"modload cadp" loads the driver (according to modinfo)
but dmesg doesn't show that the card is recognized.
At this point, I'd rather switch than fight. Do you
(or anyone) have a recommendation for an inexpensive
SCSI controller for PCI or PCI-E bus? Most of the HCL
listed controllers are for high-end RAID applications.
