First of all.If you have some unsupported HW then the best thing you can do on
all OS's is to try latest build if it's ok,somewhat running or still not ok.For
OpenSolaris you can download ISO's based on latest build here
http://genunix.org/
I have Intel 5100 but I must test it in OpenSolaris first (iwh driver for Intel 5100/5300
is available). In OpenBSD it's running great after downloading firmware. But take a look
here http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/laptop/wireless/ especially man page of
wificonfig and so on are "must read".
Thanks Tomas,
I installed the latest 'stable' OpenSol pre your posting. I am not sure
if going to Beta or SXCE would make any difference as I've done 2 things
now:
1st - being checked the Sun HCL's before even attempting the install,
and the Marvell Ethernet adapter was not there at all only as 3rd party
2nd - being checked the laptop wireless site which states: "At present,
this driver only supports basic 802.11B/G mode."

to anything?
I did however find this site: http://solaris-x86.org/software/drivers/ -
which in turn led me here: http://www.marvell.com/drivers/driverDownload.do
The driver is for Sol 8,9,10 but I will try it with OpenSol and see what
happens!!
