OK folks.... situation is as follows... 16gig flash card mounted in a SD/SATA converter. The machine just sees it as a SATA drive.
Open Solaris 2009/6 was downloaded early December and installed to the entire flash card. All updates applied. System was then down for a while until I got some hard disks for a ZFS raid. So ... last night there were three updates to come down. They came down and later on I had to reboot the system after some unrelated file changes. I think I just wanted a reboot after messing around with SMB packages. I failed to read the update notes (I init 6'd from a remote ssh session). On rebooting, GRUB2 just goes to a grub prompt, no error slow enough for me to notice. No kernal loaded, no nothing. Not knowing anything about GRUB, there was nothing I could do except re-install Open Solaris, which I did. The installation routine worked as to be expected. However, the same GRUB problem persists. I have two options ... 1) completely trash the card and start again from scratch. 2) Hope that someone here can help me sort this out, because if I do trash the card and the same updates come down again, I'll just face a repeat of this situation. Did something update GRUB2 this last couple of weeks? After a morning of trying ... I've got to go to work. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
