Yep, this is confusing; and I don't understand what the bug reporter is trying to say with "it was corrected ...". Maybe he constructed a custom SX:CE b108 DVD with additional entries in the miniroot's /etc/driver_aliases file, that forced the use of the ahci device driver with the "pci10de,ab5" device. Anyway, the messages that he added to bug 7055 are showing that the ahci driver is attaching, and has detected both a SATA disk and SATA ATAPI optical device. And the scanpci output in bug 7055 is showing a nvidia MCP79 SATA Controller in P-ATA legacy mode. > Anyway I've attached 3 text files (messages from > kernel , scan pci, and prtconf ) to show exactly what > drivers my livecd loads at boot. Well, the HDD seems to be reporting "ID not found" errors when you try to read sector #0. The ATA standard defines this error as: 6.3.4 ID Not Found (IDNF) ID Not Found shall be set to one if a user-accessible address could not be found. ID Not Found shall be set to one if an address outside of the range of user-accessible addresses is requested when command aborted is not returned. I guess that sector 0 hasn't turned into a bad block, because windows is still usable (?) on that disk Is there a HDD password setup for the disk? -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
