man init :-)
The above shows you can get back to multi-user as well but a reboot will
test that any changes you made will survive a reboot. Yes a reboot
should start mult-user mode.

Sure wish I could directly update with only 1 GB but I guess that x64 just uses
too many memory resources..It was not as critical on 32 bit...I was able to get
by with only about 1.2 GB in virtual machine.
