The first OpenSolaris release was in 2008. In 2004 you must have been
running Solaris 9. Here's a link to information on previous Solaris
releases, but I do not believe a version of Solaris 9 is available for
download from the site:
http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/releases.jsp
Maybe if you relayed the install failures you are seeing with
OpenSolaris, the list can help to get it working.
