Thank you cbinford, that did the trick. I disabled all of the graphics cutesy stuff under system > preferences > appearance > visual effects. I then enabled vnc from system > preferences > desktop sharing, by checking the first two boxes, unchecking the third, and checking the next two, as well as setting a PW. This did the trick. I can now vnc into the Solaris box from my Mac Pro by doing a command-K and then entering vnc://host.
Alan, I also want to extend a special thank you to you as well for your continuing efforts and assistance on this matter. You certainly gave it your best, and it is very appreciated! Again thank you both! I must say I am very happy with the Solaris box for the most part, especially now that I have vnc working. Solaris is quite nice now that virtualBox has joined the party (I tried Solaris once before when QEMU was the only vm app on the Solaris block), ZFS is a dream, and Solaris's memory and thread management is spectacular! :) When you put this all together and add dedup to the mix it's difficult to think of a better solution for a NAS/VM server! -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
