So, I did the "upgrade from dev" thing.... and it blew up.
This is where it automatically installed a new "BE" for me to boot from. thank
goodness.
The score on my macbook pro i7 is now as follows:
Solaris MU8: hang at initial text output from kernel
OpenSolaris 2009.06: Loads okay! lets me log in, etc. I'm just stuck in
800x600 vesa.
OpenSolaris.dev update: gets to opensolaris [ -- ] motiony
thingie, but
the KITT motiony thingie does not get even one move. It does nothing, then
after a while, resets the box.
when i use the boot-time grub editor to cancel out the text mode stuff, I
BRIEFLY see some kernel gripes about missing symbols, pci_somethingorother,
before it kernel panics.
So, looks like the upgrade procedure from 2009.06 to [dev-current] is broken,
in that it breaks my kernel :-(
Did you try booting into the kernel debugger?
Something has changed in more recent builds to make them not play well
with Macs. I used to boot a MacBook from the late 2008 live CD without
problems, but it won't boot from the build134 one.
