I don't know about USB3 or SATA III, but I personally prefer the Intel ICHxx SATA controllers for SATA II. I think they only come on motherboards, not add-in cards. AND, although the drivers are there, I've had a lot of problems getting Si3124 cards working reliably under OpenSolaris.
If you can find a system with an X38, X48, or X58 Intel chipsets, it will work in native SATA mode with OpenSolaris. What you can't count on is if the BIOS allows you to set it to AHCI non-RAID mode. Some do (Dell Precision, Shuttle), some don't (Dell Studio XPS). I only responded since your subject said "maybe SATA II". Don't know if this will help. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
