Hi, I'm thinking of changing my server CPU from a Athlon 64 X2 5600+ ADA5600IAA6CZ (which doesn't support PowerNow) for one which hopefully does - Athlon X2 7550+ AD7550WCJ2BGH. The 5600+ is a family 15 cpu which is why it doesn't work but I'm guessing that the 7550+ should be OK as it is newer.
Before I invest any of my hard-earned I was wondering if someone could tell me whether frequency scaling is supported on a dual core X2 (Phenom based) processor? If so, do the cores scale separately? If not, is there any mileage in disabling one of the cores with psradm to save power or is that a complete waste of time?
