I have seven 1TB drives joined into a RAIDZ zpool. I export the pool, remove
one drive from the computer, and then attempt to import the pool. The computer
gives me the error that the pool will need to be destroyed and recreated from a
backup. Zpool status gives me the message below, and correctly lists the six
remaining drives.
status: One or more devices are missing from the system.
action: The pool cannot be imported. Attach the missing
devices and try again.
It looks like RAIDZ is not protecting me from a single drive failure, and I
don't like that idea at all. Am I missing something?
