Perhaps Bart will chime in, but in the meantime I thought I'd follow up. Generally grub can point to any partition, whether it's primary or extended, though I believe it puts the appropriate pointer in the MBR. When given a choice, if you have a grub that you want to continue to use, you'd want to choose to have any new install put grub on the same partition as / (root). And looking in gparted on my pc, it shows /dev/sda6 has the boot flag and it's (obviously) an extended partition. One thing you might want to have handy is a copy of Super Grub Disk (http://www.supergrubdisk.org/) just in case. It's saved me a couple of times in the last year or so. _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list opensolaris-help@opensolaris.org
