I've been having intermittent audio static problems ever since I've moved from SXCE to OpenSolaris. I never experienced these before, on SXCE.
I'm getting the playback sound (as with audiotest) but it comes with static. If I log out and log back in, static problem goes away but comes back in an hour or two. 1. System is a Sun Ultra-24 2. System is running 2009.06 updated to snv_122 3. I've applied the latest audiohd drivers, described at: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=112523&tstart=0 4. audiotest will exhibit the static problem (see output below) Sound is coming to <left>, <right>, and <stereo> correctly. 5. % cat /dev/sndstat SunOS Audio Framework Audio Devices: 0: audiohd#0 Intel HD Audio, ICH9 (DUPLEX) Mixers: 0: audiohd#0 Intel HD Audio, ICH9 Realtek HD codec: ALC888 6. mixerctl -C DEVICE CONTROL VALUE POSSIBLE audiohd#0 volume 72 0-100 audiohd#0 front 75:75 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 center 75 0-100 audiohd#0 lfe 21 0-100 audiohd#0 rear 75:75 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 surround 75:75 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 headphones 70:70 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 mic 50:50 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 line-in 50:50 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 monitor-gain 0:0 0-100:0-100 audiohd#0 record-source mic line-in,mic 7. Yesterday, this immediately eliminated the static problem but today it doesn't help: # svcadm disable audio 8. I'm using the headphone (light green) port. 9. System is available on Sun internal network, if anyone wants to take a look. -------------------------------------------------------- % audiotest Sound subsystem and version: SunOS Audio 4.0 (0x00040003) Platform: SunOS 5.11 snv_122 i86pc *** Scanning sound adapter #1 *** /dev/sound/audiohd:0dsp (audio engine 0): audiohd#0 - Performing audio playback test... <left> ................OK <right> ...............OK <stereo> ..............OK <measured sample rate 47922.00 Hz (-0.16%)> *** All tests completed OK ***
