^^^^^^^^^^^ closer look revealed that it's not the
case. 'if [ "$OUT" = "i86pc-sun-solaris2" ]' after
'OUT="solaris-x86-$CC"' whill hardly do the trick.

I think I have rather clear idea about what's the problem. No, I can't
be 100% sure till I verify it myself. Good news are that I have reasons
to believe I'll have the chance before the scheduled release:-) In
either case it's already in today's snapshot if anybody who runs Solaris
listens and want to check it out...
