Probably not... It's most likely compiler bug in which case you should
turn to the vendor.

                    ^^ I could think of the only reason for this, namely
you don't have perl 5...

Get perl! If it doesn't help (if configured properly another (alpha
specific) variant of BN code is engaged and there's a chance that
compiler won't step on the bug), get gcc (2.95.2 does provide
competitive performance).

And please! No more application/ms-tnef attachments!
