I was being polite. :) It's got potential, but in my view it's still
too rough around the edges. On the other hand, I prefer real Makefiles
as opposed to automake. But if you end up using it, a perl script run
out of commitinfo can be used to ensure that Makefile.in is regen'd
whenever Makefile.am is checked-in.
