pod2man is a command line wrapper around Pod::Man these days, and
depends on other Pod:: modules. Do you *really* want them to be
included?
A solution I could see is to provide auxiliary packages with extra
files, like the whole pod2x packet. People would have to download
those separately and install them in some way. It's possible such a
package is already available on CPAN (which should check that out).

The more time goes, the more pod2man.pl will be deprecated and
broken. We got the first warnings now, let's not wait until it gets
out of hand, shall we? We're not mainly perl developers, after all,
and pod2x continues to develop.
