This line also gives me a crash, exactly as you describe it:
openssl ca -infiles xxxx

If I enter a passphrase for the above command or press ctrl-break to
abort it crashes.

Using configuration from /usr/local/ssl/openssl.cnf
Enter pass phrase for ./demoCA/private/cakey.pem:
aborted!
unable to load CA private key
3380:error:0906A068:PEM routines:PEM_do_header:bad password
read:pem_lib.c:399:
Segmentation fault

This is what I am running this on:

Linux abuse 2.4.20 #1 SMP Mon Dec 30 16:40:46 CET 2002 i686 unknown
Red Hat Linux release 7.3 (Valhalla)
