Dear List,
I've just built OpenSSL with (amongst others) the options
                                --with-krb5-dir=/usr \
                                --with-krb5-flavor=MIT \

The resulting library certainly has an immediate dependency on
-libgssapi_krb , but it doesn't appear in the openssl.pc or
libssl.pc files. Surely it should be added into the 'Libs' line
(I've put it between -lcrypto and -ldl)? At the very least, document
that it will be needed somewhere. If it IS documented and I missed
it, my apologies, and please document it more loudly!

Another small puzzle: openssl.pc and libssl.pc differ very slightly
in their 'Description' fields (the text " and tools" appears in one
but not the other). I can't see a reason why these files should
EVER be different. Indeed, I'd recommend making libssl.pc a
symbolic link to openssl.pc .

Presumably all this is generated somewhere in your tortuous
configuration chain. Human life is too short for me to work it
all out myself (I'm in far too many developer lists as it is).
I'll probably pull myself out of this one when I've seen what
anyone has to say.

Bernard Leak.
