Dear List,
further to the previous note, two things:
Firstly, I forgot to mention that I'm using the 0.9.8e release.
An entirely unrelated matter:
When I installed OpenSSL, it generated a symlink it thought I needed, called
libcrypt.so.1, in my /lib/ directory. Fine, except that I already had a
working
symlink where it belonged - at /lib/libcrypt.so.1. This new link was
inserted
into /lib/quarantine (holding some old glibc libraries I thought I might
possibly
need again). It did NOT point to any of the libcrypt* objects in the
directory
(nor anything else: I saw the link was broken, and deleted it before noting
what
the link target was).
Surely, of all the things the OpenSSL installation process should be
doing,
injecting broken symlinks into random locations in /lib/ is fairly low
priority?
Bernard Leak.
