I'm not going to get into a holy war about whether the list should be open
or not. I'm
just irritated that there is apparently no way to avoid some of the things
that have happened recently - the misdirected autoreplies, the junkmail,
etc.
But since everyone else's opinion is apparently "shut up and eat your
spam", maybe I should just quit complaining, eh?

Um. I'm not the owner of the openssl mailing lists and I have ABSOLUTELY
NO CONTROL WHATSOEVER over list policy.
All I know is I'd like to stay subscribed to the lists, since they are the
official lists, and I'd like to avoid seeing junkmail, and I'd like to
avoid getting five zillion copies of some idiot's autoreply when they go
on vacation.
That apparently is too much to ask.
