Ah, naming is fun. :) You heard in training that the service nova-objectstore is a deprecated service within OpenStack Compute (Nova). OpenStack Object Store (Swift) is certainly thriving and can be a backend to store images in the Image Service (Glance).
Check this page for the latest RHEL packaging for OpenStack projects http://wiki.openstack.org/Packaging/RHEL.
