Did you find out what to do about Cubox-i and sunxi? This is about Cubox-i. I think it is okay to ignore the cubox-i patch when you need to update u-boot. To my knowledge there is not a port ofa more recent than 2014-04 uboot for it, and it is not something I could do. It may be wise, for cubox-i to stay with an older version of uboot now, especially since similar hardware like the HummingBoard are so far working only with an older uboot provided by SolidRun.
