I am not using NetworkManager. The Ethernet comes up on boot. Cool feature? Hmmm. Not sure how one can use dhcp to assign addresses to specific devices with that. As an optional flag, maybe. My solution right now is to use a fixed address. At least I can access the device. I will next try a script suggested in another response.
