xml is the official way to import/export to/from mediawiki.

of course, xml is pretty what you want it to be :-), but an
effort to make better import export modules for mediawiki
could be a _very intersting_ thing for CoS, for example. and
worldwide intersting. (sorry I'm completely unable to help
in this)
