Yes I agree with Bruno - search for kiwi-ltsp i think that is what you are looking for.. Its something I am planning for my final year project although mine will involve a beowulf cluster to add into the mix.
But depending on how many users you need to run at any one time I think you can have around 4-5 simultanious users per 1 gb of ram.
