I have an asus 4k, and have the same problem. If you remove asus_acpi the
problem go away, the syslog is full of messages about error in acpi lcd
(when I can turn on the laptop I will be more precise).

Subject: [opensuse] Some OSD information showed in screen!

I run SuSE 10 Beta4 in my ASUS A6Q17Va laptop with KDE,my screen often show
some information about "LCD is on" or " LCD is off" like OSD,I want to know
which program produced that.
I try other WM,but other WM is not like that,so it is possible that this
phenomenon produced by some program of KDE.
This phenomenon was often displayed in my screen, annoyed!
How can stop it! Thanks!
