Greetings,
I have a modular hard drive on my Laptop and also have a modular CD ROM driver
as well, and i change them out once in awhile. I currently have to turn off my
laptop and then turn it back on again to install the other device and use it.
Normally in windows you would have to just open a program that would deactivate
the device so that you can pull it out then when you put in the other one you
can reactivate the new device and it would plug and play it. How can i do this
on SUSE Linux 10.0. Does this makes sense.

I think simply unmounting the device, replace it, updating the fstab
entries (if you are using fstab) then remounting the device will solve
the problem. If you need more details on how to do that just ask.
I'm not sure if this will really work without dammaging the notebook.
Most models I've seen thus far were first deactivating the power on the
modular devices as the IDE bus usually used in these notebooks is NOT
Hotplug aware.
