Hi all !

I have been up on 10.0 for some time and things have
been great. Yesterday I noticed my nice pretty 3D
screensaver slowed to a crawl. I checked in Sax and
noticed the Activate 3D check box was grayed out. I
checked in xorg.conf and seen it was loading the
"nvidia" driver. I then checked the Xorg.1.conf and
seen these 2 lines:

(II) NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA 3D Acceleration Architecture
Initialized
(II) NVIDIA(0): Using the NVIDIA 2D acceleration
architecture

I guess you did not download the optional NVidia driver as offered by YOU ? AFAIK this RPM package is vital to get 3D accelaration with NVidia graphics cards.

A fast check could be to look for a line beginning with "Driver" in section "Device" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf". If that line holds just "nv" you have got the 2D-only driver (which is open source). If you find a line holding "nvidia" you have got the 2D/3D version (which is closed source and needs to be installed seperately).

Any ideas how to get 3d back? Thanks in advance,

Well, IIRC this problem was discussed many times on various places (alt.linux.suse, alt.os.linux.suse, within this mailing list ...). You simply need to browse for information alredy available ...

Never give up !
