And for this exact reason, I no longer have a WinXP computer. I had a
dual boot system for quite a while to do a couple of things not found
in linux. For Christmas, I got a new Video card Radeon X700 AGP FWIW. I
tried to install it and windows says I've got new hardware. Great. I'd
removed all traces of the old versions. After the install, WinXP locked
up on reboot. Nothing I could do would fix it. So I did a re-install,
and picked up a driver or two that might be necessary. Same thing.
Locks up.

Linux on the other hand worked right away. Installed the newer driver
from ATI, ran their installer, and with the exception of the mouse
wheel not working everything worked. Took about two minutes to make up
my mind. The XP drive is gone. I found other way to do what I needed. I
just hadn't looked hard enough..
