Please don't shoot me for sugesting things. ;-)
Perhaps the beta can be just 3 CD's. All the rest on FTP.

Again a proposal:
ftp.suse.com could hold everything. It can hold the OSS content, as it is
part of SUSE. It can also hold the NON OSS content, as it will do any way.
It has much more mirrors. It can hold everything.

So because it can hold everything, has more mirrors and could do the job,
what is the reason to use ftp.opensuse.org at all?

My proposal is this: Use ftp.suse.com for finished products, e.g. 10.0,
10.1, CDs and DVDs. Use ftp.opensuse.com for beta and factory.

A direct extra advantage is that it should become even more clear that
SUSE is the distribution and openSUSE is the comunity (working on the
distribution)

Now it is just plain confusing. Another advantage is naturaly the amount
of space it will save. Now mirrors have e.g. the iso's twice on their
mirror. So to sum it up: ftp.suse.com for final releases, ftp.opensuse.org
for factory and beta.
