Not sure how you figured it has a mistake and not be able to tell what
it is. Mine's considerably simpler:

root (hd0,4)
install --stage2=/boot/grub/stage2 /grub/stage1 (hd0,4) /grub/stage2
0x8000 (hd0,4)/grub/menu.lst
quit
