Don't know the hardware details. If you aren't having problems burning CDs
then I doubt that ide-scsi is an issue. Due to legal concerns in the USA
and Germany over proprietary codecs and license fees, openSUSE does not
support mp3 and encrypted DVD playback from a normal install. Have you
added the packman repository to your install? If not, then you need to do
that and load all the video players and codecs from there. See if this
helps for adding a repository in YaST:
__
http://en.opensuse.org/Additional_YaST_Package_Repositories#Packman and then
choose a mirror near you. In Konqueror I just mouse over the first USA
mirror, right click, Copy Link Address and then go to YaST, Software,
Installation Source. Click Add, HTTP, Next and in the Server Name either
middle-click or Ctrl+V the copied link. Delete the http://. Then highlight
the first slash after the server name and domain through the end of the
directory list. Cut+Paste that into the Directory On Server area and delete
the leading and trailing slashes. Click Next.

Any errors at this point are usually due to not getting rid of ftp:// or
http:// in the Server Name and leading and trailing slashes in the
Directory on Server areas. Or the server is down, misconfigured, in the
middle of a mirror process, etc.

This is just packman. There are many more repositories available. Use the
Search option in YaST's Software Management. Try dvd, k3b, etc. the packman
packages usually have a pm in the file name. You can also use the
Installation Sources option in YaST's Software Management to see what each
repository has available.

You'll also have to find libdvdcss and install that.

http://lists.opensuse.org/cgi-bin/search.cgi?advanced=yes is great way to
search the list.
