Check /var/log/mail, ( `mailq` and `mailq -Ac` ) when using sendmail.

Hah. It looks like something steals your mails from the system
mailbox (it's timestamp got updated as part of the process and you
got the notification). Possibly kontact/kmail/thunderbird/anything
else that does not directly deal with MBOX (like pine).
