        It works like this...

        The first number is the disk number ... from zero... so hd0 is your 
first 
physical drive...  hd1 would be the second and so on.

        The second number is the partition number ... from zero... so  (hd0,6) 
is the 
seventh partition on the first hard drive.   see?

        You *must* know your partition table.

        You can manually adjust the menu.lst file with vi (vim) or emacs or 
whatever.
