I don't think this is a KVM problem but more of a mother board issue as it 
initializes the mouse and keyboard on boot.  And I have seen it many times on 
my Windows XP box and infact, it looses it more often than the Linux boxes, 
such that I keep a second mouse directly attached (USB) to the system. Here at 
my Office, I have a Windows 2003 Server that I have to keep a mouse directly 
attached because it won't work through the KVM at all.  Oh, my KVM's are 
industrial strength, not inexpensive.
