Not the country keyboard layouts, there's a "keyboard model" combobox
in the same place, works fine for microsoft/logitech multimedia
keyboards etc. The multimedia buttons will start to work immediately
you select the correct keyboard model if it's in the list.

Yes, that's what I did, I selected keyboard model "Laptop/notebook
Dell Inspiron 6xxx/8xxx" (I'm on an Inspiron 6000 laptop), but no
luck.

new action -> [keyboard input -> command/url(simple) ] -> Set the
keyboard shortcut on the keyboard shortcut tab -> set the command on
the command tab. Something like "aumix -v-5" will decrease volume and
"aumix -v+5" will increase it for example

I'll have to check that, I don't have aumix installed and the mixers I
do have installed do not appear to accept options from the command
line like that. Thanks.
