Personnaly I use gftp as gui ftp app. It works pretty fine and got a very 
usable gui (a little like FileZilla iirc).

Personnaly I install opensuse on x86 and x86_64 and never have to d/l
Flash: it was already there. On the 64 bits platform I got a problem with
Java as usually (that's a "normal" problem but still...)
