Well, I'm only invoking it as root because invoking as a normal user fails.
I have used xsane for a long time and never had a problem starting it as a user.
I'm very happy for you. I only wish I knew what I'm doing differently
from you.
By the way, I noticed that your answer was the only one that had a
reply-to for the mailing list. Replying to all the others I had to
adjust the address list by hand. Is the standard practice for this list
to "reply to all"? Or is everyone hand-pruning as I am?
