I have a USR 56K message modem. I usually use tkusr to use the modem as an
answering machine. It needs /dev/modem which is a soft link to /dev/ttyS0.
tkusr is run from /usr/local/bin.
This worked fine up to openSUSE 10.2. However, since installing 10.3 it will
only run as root. As a normal user I get the following error message:
Error in startup script: couldn't open "/dev/modem": permission denied
while executing
"open $dev {RDWR NONBLOCK}"
(procedure "CheckLockedDevice" line 8)
invoked from within
"CheckLockedDevice $device(device)"
(procedure "main" line 36)
invoked from within
"main $argc $argv"
(file "/usr/local/bin/tkusr" line 2124)
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Would be very grateful for any
advice.
Thanks in advance.
Eddie
